Updated version of the Statistical Framework for Measuring Corruption published: A key step in the global fight against corruption

The updated version of the Statistical Framework for Measuring Corruption was recently published. This initiative was previously presented at the 54th session of the United Nations Statistical Commission in February 2023, as well as at the 10th session of the Conference of the States Parties of the UNCAC in December 2023. The framework was developed by UNODC with the support of the Center of Excellence (CoE), and received comments and feedback from more than 80 countries and institutions.
The framework represents a major breakthrough in the generation of statistical information covering various dimensions of corruption. It serves as a comprehensive guide for all countries to initiate or strengthen the identification of reliable sources of information and the systematic and continuous collection of data on this global phenomenon.
One of the key features of this framework is its focus on multiple indicators. Recognizing the complexity of the problem, it has been designed with a range of indicators covering different thematic areas, thus addressing the challenges inherent in measuring corruption.
This tool is expected to play a crucial role in monitoring and strengthening anti-corruption policies globally. In addition, it will provide a solid basis for informed decision making and impact assessment of implemented anti-corruption measures.
