The United Nations Entity for Gender Equality and the Empowerment of Women (UN Women) and the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) are pleased to launch a Global Consultation on a Common Statistical Framework on Gender-Related Killings of Women and Girls (Femicide/Feminicide).
There is growing concern about the alarming prevalence of gender-related killings, the most extreme form of violence against women, while statistical evidence on this issue is still insufficient in terms of accuracy, completeness and comparability. To respond to such challenge, the UN Statistical Commission in 2019 made a request to develop a statistical framework on gender-related killings of women and girls (femicide/feminicide), based on the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS).
Based on a thorough technical review conducted over the last years, a preliminary statistical framework has been developed and is now shared with stakeholders at national and international level in order to collect a wide and articulated technical feedback.
We are inviting national institutions, civil society and academics all over the world to participate in this consultation. Please fill the below Questionnaire as thoroughly as possible. Should you consult with different experts within your organization, we kindly ask you to consolidate the various inputs into a single file. This request may also reach you through other institutional channels, but only one submission is requested on behalf of your organization. Nonetheless, different organizations/institutions from the same country are encouraged to submit separate forms for this technical consultation.
