Technical Assistance to the Directorate of the National Crime Information System, within the framework of the Statistical Quality Assessment SNIC-2017

From July 3 to 5 the team of the Center of Excellence made an on-site visit to the National Directorate of Crime Information (DSNIC) of the Undersecretariat of Crime Statistics of the Ministry of Security of the Republic of Argentina within the framework of the Statistical Quality Assessment of the National Crime Information System (SNIC) 2017. The Statistical Quality Assessment aims to ensure methodological rigor and adherence to the United Nations Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics.

The CoE carried out a technical review of the Ministry’s compliance of the improvement plan developed within the framework of the Statistical Quality Assessment SNIC-2016; which had been prepared by the CoE with the aim of identifying specific improvement aspects to be implemented by the DSNIC. This was made by reviewing evidence and by making a process verification before the new Statistical Quality Assessment SNIC-2017. These Statistical Quality Assessment processes contribute to make Argentina’s crime statistics more reliable, timely and transparent and useful for policymaking.
