Launch of version 2.0 of the ICCS mobile application

The UNODC Center of Excellence (COE UNODC-INEGI) has made the updated version of the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) mobile application available to the public. This tool was developed to support countries in adopting this international standard, allowing them to consult the classification directly in order to improve the consistency of crime statistics between different institutions.

The new version of the application is designed to work both with an internet connection and offline. It is available for devices with iOS and Android operating systems. Its main features include:

  • Search systems: Allows users to locate information using keywords, specific ICCS codes, or specific sections.

  • Technical consultation: Users can explore categories, definitions, and variables in the classification.

  • Supporting documentation: Provides access to reference materials, contextual information, and PDF files for download.

  • Language options: Features a multilingual interface that allows users to switch between available languages (English/Spanish).

  • Direct contact: Includes a link to communicate with the UNODC-INEGI Center of Excellence.

For national institutions, the use of this application facilitates the dissemination of the ICCS in daily statistical and analytical tasks. It also supports the harmonization of administrative justice records by mapping crimes and creating correspondence tables. It is also a resource for measuring the indicators of Sustainable Development Goal (SDG) 16, related to violence and security.

For individual users, the app provides access to international crime classification standards from anywhere, with navigation designed for mobile devices.
