November 2025: The Victimization Atlas is updated with new findings
The UNODC-INEGI Center of Excellence for Government Information, Public Safety, Victimization, and Justice presents the November update of the Victimization Survey Atlas, which incorporates new files in the Documentary Atlas and recent data in the Dynamic Data Atlas.
This edition includes five new surveys from Europe and the Americas:
United States 2024
England and Wales 2025 (as of June)
France 2024
Mexico 2025
Uruguay 2025 (firt half)
A notable milestone is the update of the United States National Crime Victim Survey, the oldest victimization survey in the world. Its 2024 edition introduces significant methodological changes: more precise questions, a reorganized questionnaire flow to facilitate understanding by respondents, and greater detail on experiences of victimization, seeking help, and relations with the authorities. It also incorporates periodic modules on police performance and community safety. To strengthen historical comparability, a transition period was established with the parallel application of the previous and new instruments. The document describing these adjustments can be consulted in the Atlas.
In Mexico, ENVIPE celebrates 15 years of consecutive surveys, consolidating its position as a regional technical benchmark. In Uruguay, the Victimization Module of the Continuous Household Survey is making progress with an innovative approach for the region and has completed its first year of continuous data collection.
In Europe, France publishes its second edition of the Experiences and Feelings in Matters of Security survey (Vécu et ressenti en matière de sécurité), which continues to replace the historic Living Conditions and Security Survey (Enquête de Cadre de vie et Sécurité). For its part, the Crime Survey for England & Wales maintains its leadership as the longest-running survey on the continent, notable for the timeliness of its quarterly results.
We invite you to explore these surveys and keep up to date with the latest advances in measuring victimization globally.
The Atlas is an initiative of the Center of Excellence that facilitates access, analysis, and visualization of information on victimization around the world and contributes to the monitoring of Sustainable Development Goal 16: Peace, Justice, and Strong Institutions.
