Presentation of results of the Statistical Quality Certification of administrative records of detained persons in Ecuador

From 3rd to 7th October, the National Institute of Statistics and Censuses of Ecuador (INEC), convened a group of experts of the National Institute of Statistics and Geography (INEGI) as well as the Centre of Excellence in Statistical Information on Government, Crime, Victimization and Justice of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), to participate in the quality Certifying task force in the statistical production process of detained persons, produced by the Ministry of Interior.

The INEC, as lead agency and coordinator of the production of official statistics in the country, through the Quality Certification System for Statistical Operations seeks to analyze and improve statistical production at the national level, based on the Code of Good Statistical Practices and the Statistical Model Production. During the meeting, the Certifying Committee established the main recommendations for the Ministry of Interior to strengthen quality requirements. This, alongside improving statistical processes and products which can be used for public policy.
