Guatemala prepares to implement its first National Victimization Survey
From 16-19 August, the Center of Excellence in Statistical Information on Government, Crime, Victimization and Justice (CoE) held a workshop to develop the questionnaire that the government of Guatemala will use to implement its first “National Survey on Perception of Public Safety and Victimization (ENPEVI) 2017”.
With the participation of staff from the Ministry of the Interior, the Ministry of National Security, the Ministry of Strategic Planning, the National Institute of Statistics, and the University of the Valley of Guatemala, among others, after 4 days of work the group was able to integrate a questionnaire based on the recommendations of the “Latin American and the Caribbean Crime Victimization Survey Initiative (VICLAC-LACSI)”, as well as of the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS), consistent with the Sustainable Development Goals to generate reliable, comparable and periodical data on perception of insecurity, corruption and victimization experiences.
This effort is part of the collaboration Agreement between the Center of Excellence UNODC-INEGI with the Project INFOSEGURA of the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) which, aims to support the generation of data to develop evidence-based policies.
