Guatemala keeps working to improve its administrative records on crime through the statistical quality assessments

From July 10 to 12, the CoE team visited Guatemala City to carry on activities related to the processes of Data Quality Assessment with two important institutions of Guatemala: The Civilian National Police (PNC) and the National Statistics Office (INE).

Within these activities, some meetings were held with the head of the National Statistical System (SEN), the Sectorial Coordination Office for Safety Statistics (OCSE) and the cartography section of the INE to know their functions, attributions and, processes.

On the PNC side, other meetings were held with personnel from the Comisaría 12, the Police Activity Registry (RAP), the Headship of Strategic Planning and Institutional Development (JEPEDI) and, the Special Division of Criminal Investigation (DEIC) to follow up the activities on the homologation of the variables of the dataset according to the International Crime Classification for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) and, to know the statistical production process.

All these activities were carried out with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) to improve the quality of the administrative records in terms of safety and security and compliance with the United Nations Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics.
