Call for papers of the Fourth International Conference on Statistics on Governance, Security and Justice.

The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), through the Center of Excellence for Statistical Information on Government, Public Security, Victimization and Justice (CdE), in coordination with the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI) and the Institute of Statistics and Informatics of Peru (INEI), invite from June 4 to 6, 2018, to participate in the 4th International Conference on Statistics on Governance, Security and Justice, based in the city of Lima, Peru.

The objective of the conference is to bring together public policy makers, statistical data producers, researchers and general public from different countries to promote dialogue on the production and use of statistics on crime and criminal justice as basic infrastructure for policy formulation based on evidence.

This Conference offers the opportunity to discuss the development of new standards and methodologies to improve the availability, quality, relevance and use of criminal statistics, also improve the capacity to produce and disseminate them, as well as improving the collection and analysis of international data.

The following topics will be discussed in the 4th Conference sessions:

  • Advances in the integration of traditional data sources and new sources
  • Intersectoral information exchange
  • Elaboration of evidence-based policies
  • Prevention of crime and health
  • Violence against women and children
  • Use of surveys to measure victimization and problems related to crime
  • Homicide statistics
  • Illicit markets and organized crime
  • Government measurement and corruption
  • Problems related to drugs
  • Functioning of the criminal justice system (impact evaluation, randomized controlled trials, etc.).
