Guatemala is preparing to conduct its first National Survey on Perception of Public Safety and Victimization (ENPEVI 2018)

From 24 to 27 October, the Center of Excellence for Statistical Information on Government, Public Safety, Victimization and Justice (CoE) trained more than 120 interviewers who will work to gather information for the first National Survey on Perception of Public Safety and Victimization (ENPEVI 2018).

Throughout the training, the interviewers, together with their supervisors and regional supervisors, reviewed the data collection instruments that will be used to gather information for ENPEVI 2018. The questionnaire, designed by the Center of Excellence, considers the recommendations of the Latin American and the Caribbean Crime Victimization Survey Initiative (LACSI), as well as the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS), in line with the Sustainable Development Goals of the 2030 Agenda of the United Nations.

The ENPEVI 2018 is the first national victimization survey implemented by Guatemala, promoted by the Ministry of the Interior, with the technical support of the Center of Excellence and the National Institute of Statistics (INE) of Guatemala.

This training was carried out with the support of the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) Project INFOSEGURA which seeks to support the generation of data to feed the design of public policies based on evidence.
