UNODC and the Center of Excellence participate in the First UN Data Forum

From 15 to 18 January 2017, Statistics South Africa, with support from the United Nations Economic and Social Department (UNDESA) and the UN Statistics Division (UNSD), organized the First UN Data Forum in Cape Town, South Africa.

During this forum, innovation was explored in the use of data and statistics to measure global progress and to inform evidence-based policy decisions on the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development. 2,000 people attended this event representing governments, business, civil society, as well as scientific and academic communities who during 3 days contributed to the global dialogue around the generation of relevant data for all.

Within the framework of this Conference, the Center of Excellence for statistical information on governance, security, victimization and justice participated and supported UNODC to organize the session Innovative approaches to address the challenges in monitoring Objective 16. In this session participated experts from INEGI , the Cape Verde Statistical Office, the Igarapé Institute, the Small Arms Survey, the Center of Excellence and the UNODC Research and Analysis Research Section.
