UNODC welcomes contributions from young researchers who have conducted empirical research on trafficking in persons and related topics. The best submission(s) will feature in the 2022 edition of the Global Report on Trafficking in Persons. Author(s) of the selected contribution(s) will be acknowledged for the contribution in a dedicated section of the Report.

THEMATIC AREAS

Insights from a broad spectrum of areas are welcomed, including, but not restricted to:

• Trafficking in persons trends, profiles of victims, trafficking routes and modus operandi of perpetrators.
• Emerging or overlooked forms of trafficking in persons.
• Minorities and marginalized communities affected by trafficking in persons.
• Trafficking in persons in regions of the world where data are particularly scarce, for example Africa, the Middle East and Asia.
• Demand for trafficking in persons, including analysis of supply chains and drivers of trafficking.
• Crime profits and illicit financial flows related to trafficking in persons.

WHO CAN APPLY?

• Eligible applicants must be born after 1st January 1992 and be currently enrolled in or have recently completed (within the past five years) post-graduate studies.
• Applications received by candidates born before 1st January 1992 can be accepted if the contribution was developed as part of a PhD programme completed after 1st January 2017.
• In case of co-authorship, all contributing authors must meet the criteria.
• The contribution must be unpublished but may draw on research carried out within a post-graduate program and/or submitted as a dissertation.

HOW?

• The contribution should be limited to a 500 words abstract.
• The abstract shall include an overview of the methodology and the key bibliography.
• Additional words for cited references are allowed.
• Only contributions sent in Microsoft Word format will be accepted.

IMPORTANT DATES

• Submissions will be accepted from 1st March 2022 until 30st April 2022, 23:59 CET.
• Selected authors will be notified on the results of the evaluation by 31st May 2022.
• Selected authors will be invited to submit an expanded narrative of about 1,500 words by 31st June 2022.

LA UNODC recibirá propuestas de jóvenes investigadores que hayan realizado investigaciones empíricas sobre la trata de personas y temas relacionados. Las mejores propuestas se integrarán a la edición 2022 del Informe mundial sobre la trata de personas. Los autores de las contribuciones seleccionadas serán reconocidos en una sección específica del Informe.

ÁREAS TEMÁTICAS

Se aceptan aportaciones de una amplia diversidad temática, incluyendo, pero sin limitarse a:

• Tendencias de la trata de personas, perfiles de las víctimas, rutas de la trata y modus operandi de los delincuentes.
• Formas emergentes o poco visibles de la trata de personas.
• Minorías y comunidades marginadas afectadas por la trata de personas.
• Trata de personas en regiones del mundo sobre las que hay pocos datos.
• La demanda de la trata de personas, incluido el análisis de las cadenas de suministro y los motores de la trata.
• Beneficios del crimen y flujos financieros ilícitos

¿QUIÉNES PUEDE PARTICIPAR?

• Personas nacidas después del 1 de enero de 1992 y estar actualmente matriculadas en estudios de posgrado o haberlos concluido recientemente (en los últimos cinco años).
• Las solicitudes de candidatos nacidos antes del 1 de enero de 1992 pueden ser aceptadas, si la investigación fue desarrollada como parte de un programa de doctorado completado después del 1 de enero de 2017.
• En caso de coautoría, todos los autores deben cumplir los criterios.
• La contribución debe ser inédita, pero puede basarse en una investigación realizada en un programa de posgrado presentada como disertación.

¿CÓMO PARTICIPAR?

Las propuestas y contribuciones deberán realizarse en idioma inglés.

Características del resumen a enviar:

• Máximo 500 palabras.
• Incluir resumen de metodología y bibliografía clave.
• Se permiten palabras adicionales para referencias citadas.
• Solo se aceptarán envíos en formato Word.
• Solo se aceptarán envíos en idioma inglés.

FECHAS IMPORTANTES

• Se aceptarán envíos desde el 1 de marzo hasta el 30 de abril de 2022, a las 23:59 CET.
• Las y los autores seleccionados será notificados antes del 31 de mayo de 2022.
• Las y los autores seleccionados deberán enviar un artículo de unas 1,500 palabras antes del 31 de junio de 2022.
