The 2030 Agenda states that "there can be no sustainable development without peace, and no peace without sustainable development". UNODC is the custodian (or co-custodian) agency for 17 indicators intended to measure progress on the Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs). Some of the SDG targets are:
Target 11.7 By 2030, provide universal access to safe, inclusive and accessible, green and public spaces, in particular for women and children, older persons and persons with disabilities.
Target 16.1. Significantly reduce all forms of violence and related death rates everywhere.
Target 16.2. End abuse, exploitation, trafficking and all forms of violence against and torture of children.
Target 16.3. Promote the rule of law at the national and international levels and ensure equal access to justice for all.
Target 16.4. By 2030, significantly reduce illicit financial and arms flows, strengthen the recovery and return of stolen assets and combat all forms of organized crime.
Target 16.5. Substantially reduce corruption and bribery in all their forms.
The Centre of Excellence supports UNODC in implementing activities for the standardization of statistical information on crime and criminal justice to measure progress on these SDG indicators. In addition, it promotes efforts for the development of methodologies for the measurement and analysis of hard-to-measure crimes.

Indicators metadata files
The United Nations Statistics Division (UNSD) is the division of the Department of Economic and Social Affairs (DESA) responsible for providing information on the development and implementation of an indicator framework for the follow up and review of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
In this section, the Centre of Excellence makes available the Metadata files of the 19 SDG indicators for which UNODC is the custodian, co-custodian or partner agency, extracted from the UN Statistics Division website. They contain information on their calculation method, main concepts and data sources.
These files reflect the most up-to-date information provided by the UN system and other international organizations on Tier I and II indicators of the global indicator framework.
