National Survey on Police Standards, Training and Professionalization (ENECAP) 2017

Description

ENECAP is the first survey in the Mexico that provides representative statistical information on police corporations at the federal, state and municipal levels. With its results, authorities and society can have an in-depth knowledge of the conditions, capacities, tools and daily activities of the police throughout the country.

The survey was carried out by the National Institute of Statistics and Geography of Mexico (INEGI), with the funding of the Merida Initiative and in close collaboration with UNODC through its Center of Excellence in Statistical Information on Government, Crime, Victimization and Justice.

Apart from being a novel exercise at the national level, it is also one of the only surveys of its kind in the world. To date, similar initiatives have been only sporadically recorded in Australia, Belgium, Brazil, France, Hungary, New Zealand, South Korea, Switzerland and the United States.
