From January 21st to the 25th, the Center of Excellence in Statistical Information on Government, Crime, Victimization and Justice (CoE) participated in the activities that were part of the global Conference on the Line Up, Live Up Programme. The programme, which is based on the Doha Declaration, aims to prevent juvenile criminal offending using sports to promote peace and resilience between young’s at-the-risk. Sports, provide positive experiences, life-skills and support healthy development among young people, minimizing risk factors and improving protective factors associated with anti-social behavior, drugs consumption and delinquency.
The Line Up, Live Up! Conference gathered delegations from 14 countries from Latin-American and the Caribbean (LAC), Africa, Europe and Asia. Up to now, the programme has been executed in 11 countries across the world. The United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC), through the Center of Excellence, aims to conduct the first implementation of the Programmme in Mexico as part of the Local Safety Audits.
