From November 11 to 13, the Center of Excellence for Statistical Information on Government, Public Security, Victimization and Justice (CoE) of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) participated in the second edition of the Paris Peace Forum 2019. This International Forum aims at gathering global actors engaged in the development of projects that foster collective action for peace.
The UNODC-INEGI Center of Excellence, together with the UNODC-KOSTAT Center of Excellence (based in Korea) was selected as one of the 120 global projects that were present the three days of the event. 7,000 people members of Civil Society Organizations, Researchers, Member States Representatives and Students from 140 countries participated in this event.
The CoE presented UNODC’s vision to support countries in the improvement of their crime and criminal justice statistics to understand trends, identify priorities and target effective policies that allow people living in peace and security in their communities. Starting from this technical assistance, the Centers of Excellence have become an innovative project recognized regionally and globally.
