Assuring the statistical quality of the data from the Management System of Public Safety of Uruguay

From July 1st through 5th, the CoE team visited the Ministry of Interior of the Oriental Republic of Uruguay. Following up the Statistical Quality Assessment of the Management System of Public Safety (SGSP for its Spanish initials), the SGSP database was analyzed to know its structure and to calculate metrics on completeness, timeliness, validity, uniqueness, consistency, and accuracy of the data.

Within this activity, the CoE also held some meetings with the UNODC’s Coordination Office in Uruguay, the Office of the Attorney General and the Justice Supreme Court. The objective of these meetings was to know more about the traceability of the statistical information within the Criminal Justice System and to form collaboration partnerships.

The Ministry of Interior and the CoE will work together in the Statistical Quality Assessment to improve methodological rigor of the generated information based on the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics of the United Nations, a driven project from the IDB.mision_uru_20190701_02
