Progress in the implementation of the Statistical Quality Assessment of the administrative records of the National Civil Police of Guatemala: standardization of variables

From 22 to 23 May 2019,  the Center of Excellence team visited the Republic of Guatemala in order to carry out various activities related to the Statistical Quality Assessment process of the administrative records of the National Civil Police (PNC). This activity, as part of the collaboration between the Centre of Excellence for Statistical Information on Government, Public Security, Victimization and Justice and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) Guatemala namely the project “Evidence-based information management for citizen security in Central America and the Dominican Republic (Info-Segura)”.

Under participation of the Guatemalan Ministry of the Interior, INE-Guatemala, the PNC and UNDP a technical meeting was helf, aiming at reviewing the databases of administrative records of police records generated  by the PNC Command and Control Centre for Criminality and potential Conflict (C5). These databases were contrasted with those generated by Commissariat 12 and the Police Activity Register (RAP) so that criteria could be homologated and recommendations from the International Classification of Crime for Statistical Purposes (ICCS) could be incorporated.

The CoE will continue collaborating with the PNC, UNDP and INE to improve the quality of their administrative records in accordance with the Fundamental Principles of Official Statistics of the United Nations.
