How to conduct victimization surveys at the local level?

We invite you to read the article How to conduct victimization surveys at the local level?, which argues about the importance of implementing local victimization surveys that integrate in their design the internationally established quality standards  contained in the UNODC Manual on Victimization Surveys. As well as methodologies and good practices proposed by international initiatives such as the Latin America and the Caribbean Crime Victimization Survey Initiative (LACSI).

Local victimization surveys often represent a considerable expenditure of resources but do not measure exhaustively the phenomena of interest. For this reason, the results can give a general idea about the crimes that happen in a certain place and time, but they can hardly be used to monitor public policies to reduce crime and violence.
