CENTROESTAD discusses statistical capacity to report indicators for the 2030 Agenda

The Central American Statistical Commission of the Central American Integration System (CENTROESTAD), in which all the countries of Central America and the Dominican Republic participate, held a sub-regional workshop to discuss institutional strengthening and to promote cooperation and dialogue on the statistical capacities to be developed in order to generate data to report indicators agreed within the framework of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.

This workshop was jointly organized by the Statistical Division of the Economic Commission for Latin America and the Caribbean (ECLAC) and the National Statistics and Census Institute (INEC) of Panama in its capacity as President pro tempore of CENTROESTAD. The Center of Excellence (CoE) took part in the session on Leadership, partnership, communication and interagency dialogue and SDG to present the work of the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) to improve safety and justice, through technical assistance, methodological development and training. UNODC participates in the generation of 17 indicators of 2030 Development Agenda, 9 as co-custodian and 8 as custodian agency, for which its technical orientation is essential to ensure comparability and quality of data on violence, security and justice.
