Advances in the Local Security Audit fieldwork in the municipality of Santiago de Queretaro

From the 31st July to the 5th August, the United Nations Office on Drugs and Crime (UNODC) through the Center of Excellence on Statistics on Governance, Public Safety, Victimization and Justice together with the UNODC Country Office in Colombia (COCOL), continued to carry out focus groups sessions in priority neighborhoods in the municipality of Santiago de Querétaro, getting to consider 18 neighborhoods.

Citizens, young people, community leaders, representatives of citizen and neighborhood participation committees, parents and civil society organizations participated during the working week. Furthermore there was the support of the Autonomous University of Querétaro (UAQ) in working with the students of Bachelor of Security Sciences and the Bachelor in Medicine. As well as the one of the Comprehensive Center for Social Prevention (CIPRES) I and II, the Unit for Basic Education Services in the State of Querétaro (USEBEQ), the National Institute of Education ofr Adults area 07 and the Center for Family Care (CAF) of the System for Integral Family Development of the State of Querétaro (DIF) in carrying out this step of Local Security Audit in their facilities.

On the other hand, it was proposed a close collaboration with UN-Habitat Querétaro in order to create synergies in the municipality and lastly a visit to the unit of Analysis and Police Intelligence for the Prevention and Fight against Crime of the Municipal Public Security Secretariat of Santiago de Querétaro (SSPMQ).
